we went to waka flocka. it was INSANE. so many mother fuckers, specifically FRAT MEN. absolutely terrifying and we were in the BACK of the crowd. so insane. talking about it makes me livid. there’s no problem with moshing and dancing like no body’s watching, but there IS something wrong with doing it and not being mindful of the presence of those around you, AND not understanding that not everyone is at your fucking level. so annoying.

3 things i’m grateful for:

my copious amount of clothes.

All-American Jewish Lesbian Folk Singer-Songwriter Phranc was the first lesbian to be out on a record label in the US, and got her start in several queer punk bands back in the the 70s- she even toured with the Smiths and Morrissey before he got, uhh, how he is. (There was actually a really cool picture in her slideshow of all the guys and Phranc topless together at sound check, I wish I would've snapped a pic!!)

We saw Phranc speak and perform in Ann Arbor tonight to open her art exhibit, The Butch Closet, at the UM Institute for the Humanities. She performed a bunch of her songs as well as introduced some of her 3d art pieces, sentimental items from childhood (often clothes) that she painstakingly recreates by hand out of paper. She SEWS these and YES, THEY HAVE TO BE FLIPPED INSIDE OUT!!!! she showed us a video of her flipping one of her pieces, it's very impressive.

I had never heard of Phranc before which is a crime against butches and transmascs everywhere. She's a delight and you should all know of her and listen to her music on Bandcamp.

As one of the few phighting fans who made it to college (yes we exist) i wanna share this lil story

So i was playing phighting in my law class (my major isnt law btw) and the lecture is over but my match still got 1 min (and possibly overtime) left and as the person in front of me collect his laptop charger (the outlet is behind my seat btw) he said:

"Oh r u using the music guy? Hes pretty hard imo"

A sense of terror runs through my spine. How does this guy knows about phighting??? Why did this guy know what class i was playing??? So many questions but i can only answer him with

"Oh really? You play phighting too???"

And our convo goes like this (im not in quotation marks)

"Yea i play the guy w the horns"

-Everyone has horns.

"Oh but his horns r red"

-Sword, right?

"Yea, sword!"

"You seems to be rlly good at this"

-haha yea ive been playing since 2022

"Aight gotta go for my next class now cya"
